What Constitutes an Acceptable Test Result?

According to IEEE Standard C57.152-2013 (Guide for Diagnostic Field Testing of Fluid-Filled Power Transformers, Regulators, and Reactors), the tolerance of the voltage ratio should be within ±0.5% of the specified nameplate voltage for all windings and taps.

Example Calculation:
  • Nameplate Voltage Ratio:
To calculate the nameplate ratio, divide the primary voltage by the secondary voltage.
    Example:
    360 V ÷ 247 V = 1.4574

  • Tolerance Range:
Based on the ±0.5% tolerance, calculate the lower and upper limits:

    • Lower Limit:
      1.4574 × 0.995 (−0.5%) = 1.4502
    • Upper Limit:
      1.4574 × 1.005 (+0.5%) = 1.4648
What Is an Acceptable Test Result?

An acceptable test result falls within the range of 1.4502 to 1.4648. If the test result is within this range, it indicates that the equipment is performing within acceptable limits. If the result falls outside this range, further investigation is necessary.
